Soliloquy is an exhibition of recent works by the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors juried by Hubert Massey that was first on view at the Anton Art Center in Mt. Clemens for the month of June 2016. It includes two and three dimensional works by 35 members of the Society. The juror, a prominent Detroit muralist, said that he “…focused on ideas and creativity, color placement, technical abilities, use of visual ideas, skill, symmetry, and composition.”October 18, 2016, Coffee @ Ten Lecture Series: Jackie Rybinski, DSWPS President, discusses how the Society–founded by Lillian Burk Meeser on February 23, 1903 and one of the oldest self-sustaining women’s art organizations in the United States–paved the way for many female artists through its mission to quicken interest in art movements of the day, stimulate high achievement, active work, and mutual helpfulness among members, and provide encouragement and support for art students.
