Julie Strabel is a member of the International Society of Experimental Artists and serves on the board of the Art and Design School of the University of Michigan. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Michigan and a Masters degree in Painting from Wayne State University, and has studied with Marie Woo, Bob Wilbert, Zubel Kachadoorian, and Marilyn Derwenskus, among others. She taught for many years in the Livonia and the Detroit Public schools. Throughout her career her work has received awards, and in 2014 she was named Nautical Fellow of ISEA. Since 1997, she has served as summer art program assistant activity director at Epworth Heights in Ludington, Michigan, and since 2012 she has conducted art therapy classes with junior- and senior-high school students at the Capuchin Monastery in Detroit.
