Joyce Manke

Joyce Manke is an artist with a love of color and pattern: "I feel it is reflected in all of my work". The definition of a Water Colorist -- “an artist who works in watercolor” best describes most of my paintings. While I occasionally delve into incorporating collage in my work to give it more dimension and acrylic using it akin to water color -- to my mind nothing equals the luminescence and “glow” of the water color medium.

Many times my paintings start out with a quick wash on a pristine sheet of paper . . . then I can get down to the exciting, satisfying work -- developing a vibrant interactive statement of color and design that expresses what I want to convey.

"Be it semi-realistic or abstract, it makes no difference, it is the arriving at and succeeding in creating that matters and keeps me working and striving to broaden my abilities and conveying my feelings in my work."
